What is Kidney Disease?

The human body has two bean-shaped kidneys, each about the size of a fist, located on either side of the spine. Their primary function is to filter the blood, removing waste and excess water, which the body then expels as urine. This process is essential for regulating blood pressure and maintaining the proper balance of salts and minerals in the body.

When the kidneys become damaged, waste and fluid build-up in the body, leading to symptoms such as swelling, nausea, vomiting, and fatigue. The most common risk factors for kidney disease include diabetes, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular disease.
